Thanksgiving and Gratitude

Thanksgiving is around the corner, so I thought I would take this time to let everyone know how grateful I am for their support. This book has been many years in the making, and I can’t wait to hold it in my hands.

I also wanted to share that I have been trying to spread #happiness through #mindfulness. I have been volunteering at a local alternative high school for troubled teens. I have two (very) small groups with whom I have been sharing the Mindful Schools curriculum. Today we will be making #mindful jars and practicing #gratitude through various exercises. Although several students have dropped out of the group, the ones who remain have been showing improvements in self-regulation, focus and coping skills. I was even fortunate enough to see one student using techniques we practiced to keep calm after being wrongly accused of doing something.

So, even though times can be hard (and these last few years have been pretty rough for my family and I), there are always things you can do to spread happiness and there is always a reason to hope.

Hang in there, stay dedicated and follow your dreams.

Volunteering for Live Oaks Public Library at the Savannah Children’s Book Festival

Good morning! I am excited to be heading out soon to volunteer at the Savannah Children’s Book Festival in Forsyth Park. I am sure to meet a lot of wonderful people there. Have a great day, everyone!

Woohoo!

Can’t help myself–celebrating today. I took the GRE yesterday and did pretty well overall. Just goes to show that with hard work (lots of cramming for that icky Quantitative section) and the courage to try, lots of things can be accomplished! Just like my main characters, Leah and Rhea, I needed to stretch beyond my comfort zone. Looking forward to the new adventures that wait for my family and me.

Thanks for sharing my journey!

Busy, Busy as a Bunny!

Hello, everyone! I signed up for NaNoWriMo for the first time this year, hoping to finish the sequel to Spell. However, I also decided to take the GRE next Wednesday and my wonderful mother stayed with me this past week so…not too much progress towards my goal. I am hoping to buckle down after taking the test. Wish me luck in catching up and please tell everyone you know about my Kickstarter project!

Wow! The story sure has changed and is ALMOST ready to be published!

After many critiques and edits, Leah and Rhea: Spell is almost ready to be published! I hope to have it available through Amazon by mid-December of 2015. Be on the lookout!

Leah & Rhea: Spell has been revised and updated!

Hello, everyone! The first adventure of Leah and Rhea has been revised and updated with brand new twists thanks to the help of several critique groups.
